Intrepid bikers on Fanta0

Nick and Nick have reached Africa at last - that’s 12 days to cross Europe and drop down through the Middle East. Hurrah! Spare a thought for the poor lads - they’ve been without beer for three days…

Too many cool things0

Posted by Jonno in Misc (Wednesday October 11, 2006 at 7:57 pm)

I was about to comment on Guy Kawasaki’s Six Cool Things post, when I noticed the title of the post was “five cool things”… I have no idea which was the sixth but I’d bet on the shirt!

Indeed, I was going to propose a seventh - Salling Clicker. Turns your mobile phone (or in my case, Pocket PC) into a Bluetooth presentation device. The Pocket PC version even lets you see what’s the next slide. And it works with iTunes/Media Player. And it can work over wi-fi. One of the coolest things I’ve installed, then bought, this year.

I haven’t tested the Bluetooth range, but it hasn’t let me down yet :)

Just looking at the site stats for last month. They say seach strings are revealing, so here’s the strings that had people land on my site:

1 31 48.44% qtek 9100
2 10 15.62% qtek
3 2 3.12% alphadoku solution
4 2 3.12% dentist equipment
5 2 3.12% four colours problem
6 2 3.12% jon collins
7 2 3.12% q-tek
8 1 1.56% agile web services
9 1 1.56% bluetooth interferes with wireless
10 1 1.56% charlene zivojinovich
11 1 1.56% colin woore
12 1 1.56% courses for myspace
13 1 1.56% courses myspace
14 1 1.56% funny lessons from mishaps
15 1 1.56% goat sheep on the farm
16 1 1.56% invisible earbuds
17 1 1.56% marillion
18 1 1.56% porcupine tree
19 1 1.56% punk eek
20 1 1.56% sudoku creating puzzle

OK Qtek I get, Marillion is fine and I’m pleased to see punk eek and alphadoku. But funny lessons from mishaps? Goat sheep on the farm? No idea, sorry - perhaps a deep insight into my psyche.

No sheep jokes, please.

Edit: I take it all back - those phrases do indeed link to the site. Well I never.

Actually it was Barcelona - but all I saw of it were some street signs in Spanish (and probably Catalan), on my way from airport to hotel, then from hotel to airport the next morning. That was my choice as things are a bit busy at the moment, but a shame nonetheless as it’s a great city. Bizarrely, I had to throw away my disposable razor on the way out, only to buy another exactly the same once I was through security. Explain that one.

H at Riffs Bar 01/10/20060

Having missed all of the h-natural gigs for reasons of just being too darn busy, I was delighted to be able to catch Mr Hogarth at Riffs on Sunday Night. It was one man and his Yamaha keyboard, playing a mix of Elvis and The Beatles, Tim Buckley and a few tracks from Marillion. Actually, it wasn’t just him - Swindon’s own guitar hero and “chum” Dave Gregory joined h on stage for a couple of songs, a sublime Sound of the Siren and XTC’s The Loving.

Which was nice. Actually there was more to it - the Buckley-esque Gabby Young put on an admirable support performance. It was all in a good cause as well, being part of the Oxjam music event. Shmokin’.

Cotswolds to Capetown0

Just back from my local, to see Nick and Nick as they set off to Cape Town on motorbikes. Emotions were kept in check until the helmets went on, at which point it was best they got on their way. Nick Graham is raising money for an anorexia charity, and Nick Clarke for Leukaemia research. More soon but for now here’s a link to their site, you can follow where they get to on their blog (they have a Blackberry).
